Hello Hello,
Feel a longish one coming on, so sit back, relax and chill as I thrill.
Got broadband today, cable modem came after only 3 days, we were expecting 10 business days and I had going to Bondi Junction in the morning to check emails and stuff. Got back about 11 and Jen had been outside sweeping leaves when the postman had come so he left one of those cards. The boys, of course, had been in the lounge and heard the knock but could not be arsed to move from the sofa to look or tell anyone. They must have been quiet, probably busy with Bionicles, jigsaws and Nintendo DS's. Anyroad, abot midday we all went out and 1st stop was the postoffice to pick up parcel--- not there. driver not back yet. The down into Rosebay so Jen could register kids with doctor, then back to post office, not back yet. Ok then, off to Bondi beach for anhour in the saltwater kids pool at the North end of the beach. Usual story, Jim leads Jack off somewhere dangerous and Jack falls on rocks and hurts bits of himself, we get them back, I perfom some Daddy magic on the sore bits then fine them a dollar each for going too far away, we have a financial award, punishment scheme going on, more on that later. This fine now means that they cant afford an icecream each so I buy 1 between them, Jack revolts and sulks up the hill to car. We get home amid shouts, cries and moans whereupon he promptly falls asleeep in his bed. Just tired I guess, using the age old adage which is generally used to explain the distinct dislike a child has for some adults. Single people, don't believe it when you hear this phrase, it's just embarressed parents trying to excuse their childs undeveloped social skills. Some kids hate you, deal with it ;-).
Anyway, supposed to hear about a job today, but got nothing, recruiter is on holiday, have broadend my search terms out to include technical writer. Back from the beach via the post office, picked up cable modem!! hoo fucking rah, back online in 10mins, felt good, damn good.
Anyway 10mins after that, realized I have notheing I need to surf for, downloaded 150 unread spam emails and turned the pigging thing off.
So , a dinner of egg fried rice for Jen and I, fish fingers and smily potato things for the boys then I was off to make new friends at the Nort Bondi RSL club $10 buyin poker night, paid the money lasted 4 hours to be knocked out 4th (3rd gets $124, 2nd $360 and 1st $720) ARSE ARSE ARSE. Still, met some nice guys, mostly english, wierd french guy, this place is now my local I guess, 4k away but it looks out onto Bondi Beach and all the gems that has to offer.
Ok, thi saturday we are going to Fox studios to watch Despareaux the mouse fillum, then Monday is AUSTRALIA day, so I guess Bondi beach followed by a BBQ.
BTW, Every day there is some new strange bug discovered by Jen or the boys which I stalk with a can of poison and a tissue, caught some weird looking fucker tonight, looked like it had a human face on a grasshopper body, jeez!
half past midnight now so off to bed for 3 hours of the filthiest, hardest, emotional sofabed torture you can imagine.
Camera's recharged I think, so piccies coming soon...
oh so weak, so tired...quite drunk;-) xxx

Thurs 15th

Busy Busy Busy, moving into the new place today, went and bought a sofabed yesterday for me and Jen to sleep on, boys have beds already, dropping Jen and boys off at new place this morning, then I'm off to swap the rental car for a hatchback, then off to look at some whitegoods and furniture from various gumtree people in the eastern suburbs.
Should hear about the job today, but have heard that story before.
Need to sort internet access out in the new place so may take a few days.
I sense a tiring, frustrating and expensive day coming on, finishing off with a broken night on a sofa bed.

wed 14th

Jesus, I'm getting sloppy in updating this thing. Wednesday am now. -quick recap:
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday - spent paying thousands to new landlord, bugger.
Monday afternoon went to IKEA of all places, thought I'd left all this rubbish behind, usual nightmare with the kids but managed to keep the spend down to about 200 quid to kit the kiychen out with plates, pans, cutlery etc. thanks to IKEA starter sets.
Tuesday, went to a Mummy Museum at the Sydney University in the morning and discovered all the kids weak spots, Jack - take his Nintendo DS away, Joe - Take money away and Jim - threaten to have him mummified and pull his brains out of his nose with sharp hooks! A little extreme prehaps but ANYTHING for 10 mins peace.
Spent the afternoon looking around Rosebay, Dover heights and Vaucluse. Our new house is 4km from Bondi Beach and 2.5k from the School they'll be going to. Checked out my old house (thanks Phil) I think it was no. 33, and confirmed that Tony's deli is now a Japanese Restaurant ;-(.
Got an interview at 1.30pm today for another security analyst role in North Ryde (37 min commute says google)
Moving in on Thursday I think, need to buy washing machine, wardrobes, outdoor table, queensized bed, blinds + myriad other stuff that all reduces my beach buggy dream little by little. Oh well, 9-5 office job, with an hour commute each way to look forward to. Real life sucks, I much prefer my own little world!
More soon, campers

sat 10th

Not sure what's happened these last few days, not a lot though. Saw Bolt at the cinema yesterday, a few beaches here and there. Got some news today though, Jen and I have decided on a house in Dover Heights, that's just in North Rose Bay, and the boys will either go to Vaucluse or Rose Bay schools, not sure which yet. It's a 2 bedroom semi with a garage and space in front, got a garden and in a quiet culdesac. Cool ocean view too, if you like that sort of thing. Check out street view,
travel down the hill to see the cliffs.

Costs us $600 a week and we'll have a short term lease for 6 months, 1.5hr commute to North Ryde though so I'd better get something in the City.
1 big weight off our shoulders, a few hundred to go.
BBQ tonight to celebrate.

Tuesday 6 January 2009

Mon, Tues 6th

Usual story these past 2 days, applying for jobs, talking to agencies, nothing really happening, they all say it will happen toward the end of the week though as people get settled back into work. The afternoon on Monday was Bondi beach, great again, body board works well and good surf, beach packed with glistening oiled firm young bodies, I can think of worse places to be...
Tuesday pm was a stroll and picnic at Cremorne and Balmoral beach, more families there with much less firm young bodies and much more 'eeughh look at that!'. We felt quite at home.
Going up for a 2mnth security consultant contract and meeting the agency guy on Wed.
Cheers Dunx
